John Costello Internet Safety Project

Internet Safety Project

Hi everyone,

This is supposed to be a fun little way to discuss online behaviour and check off some of the Div II ICT outcomes at the same time.  Hope you enjoy!

1. Hide the QR codes (cities) around your room.  Don’t make it too easy – under tables, behind closets, etc.  You might need to show your class how to scan these if they can’t figure it out on their own.

2. If your class is using the iPads, you’ll need the SMARTboard up and running, or at least have your computer accessible to small groups of students, because one video uses Flash (Steve Jobs is laughing at us from the grave).

3. Photocopy the Zoe and Molly Online quiz.  When they hand this in to you, tell them that the password is “friendship.”  If they’re using a Chromebook, they should already have checked their answers.  They won’t be able to check their answers on an iPad, but they’ll still have everything they need for the quiz.

4. When someone comes up to you, says “All’s right in the outback, mate!” and winks mysteriously, just mark them down.  They’ve completed the Garfield cyberbullying activity.

5.  When someone comes to you and says, “Calgary is awesome!” give them a copy of the word find.  They’ve finished the “Heads Up” section.
